grand opening

Welcome. Today marks the Grand Opening of my new blog. As the title suggests, I'll be blogging from the heart. Back in my days working at the Chamber of Commerce, I would have had a giant (and I mean GIANT) pair of scissors to perform a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony... but I don't work there and being a mom now, I don't think that's such a good idea. So, instead, I'll simply post the beginning of many pictures of my 17 month old daughter, Elena, taken this week:

Happy Fall!

Hey Katie,
My family told us about what was going on, and we will be in prayer - it sounds like God has already led you to some wise doctors.

I'm sad that we haven't seen you guys, and I'm sure football games are the last thing on your list right now. Hopefully we can stop by sometime this winter. I guess I don't really know where you guy are at in Houston, but I'll stay in contact.
Grace and Peace,
Stephen & Emily & the boys

I thought I saw someone point to you at MOPS today and say, "you have a blog," but then thought they were talking to someone else- but it was you! :) Great title and fitting verse. Let me know how we can help in the upcoming days. love you.

Katie,

Welcome to the world of blogging! This is a great way for those of us who love you but don't get to see you regularly to keep updated. Elena is such a darling! I can't wait until I can meet her.

I'll be praying for you, especially the initial surgery and hospital time.

Love to you, Peter and Elena,
Corene

Hi Katie,
When your mom told me that they found the cause of your hypertension, I was really encouraged. I praise the Lord that you are born in this time when heart surgery is so developed. We will be praying for you. I would also like to make a meal for you. Is someone in charge of that at Crossbridge? Is there anything that you and your family doesn't eat? By they way, Elena is adorable, but you knew that already! Love, Dionne

Thank you Katie for sharing your adventure with us. We just wanted to remind you of the verse in Proverbs 18:10 that says, "The Name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run into it and are safe"
You are a child of God and are safe because you bear his Name. We are confident that all will go well and that you and your husband will discover a deeper intimacy with the Lord as you take this faith and trust journey with him. He delights in the trust his children place in his promsies. Be assured that we are trusting and praying right along side of you.
Love, Ed and Loretta Williamson

Katie, This blog thing is so new for me that as far as I know I've already posted a comment and don't know it! If not I will just say it is a privledge to pray for you during this season of your life. And the following scripture:
Isa 43:2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

Katie,
Dad and I are so proud of the young woman you've become. We know and trust that you will be in "His Healing Hands" as you undergo surgery.

We Love you--Mom and Dad

Katie, Peter, Elena... We pray; we wait; we hope; we always know God's will is ever directed toward His children's good, and toward Katie's good, and toward Peter's good, and toward Elena's good... May He grant you peace and strength for the journey! For He is always very near, always closer than your next breath.
Much love,
Élise

You guys have been in our thoughts and prayers for over a week, but being over 50 (my excuse), it's been intimidating to figure out how to leave a comment! Please know that we are holding you both up in prayer, Katie and Peter - God is faithful and we pray He will carry you through the pain and fears.

Peter, Katie, Elena... and for all of Katie's family, we have not stopped praying or caring or hurting for all you are going through. Jesus cares more deeply than the abyss of anguish, torture, and unbearable pain. He knows everything about all of that. May you and we all lean close to the breast of Yeshua and let Him see Katie and all of us through.
God is near...
So much love from so many,
Élise
